Have you seen the recent extreme couponing show on TLC that everyone has been so excited about? This show depicts people going into grocery stores and just clearing an entire item off the shelf. More than that the amount of money that is paid for sometimes well over $1000 dollars in groceries is just 20 or 30 bucks. Does this sound like something you want to do? Lets take a realistic approach to saving money with coupons.
First off the people depicted in the show say they spend hours and hours each week planning for these trips. They also get a lot of items which you could never use in a lifetime. Realistically saving money for a family comes down to finding the coupons that can be beneficial for the week or the months food supply and needs of the family. Restaurant coupons can be beneficial if you have a large family as well. For example, Sweet Tomatoes coupons always have deals for 3 and 4 dinners.
While you probably won’t have the time to spend 5 hours a day planning for coupons online, you could easily spend 2 or 3 hours per week and get some really awesome deals. Probably saving up to 40 or 50% on your next grocery bill.
Saving money is great, but at the cost of how much time? The saying goes that ‘time is money’ which means that you could be potentially using hours to save 10 or 20 bucks. It may or may not be worth. Bottom line is that it comes down to being reasonable and realistic.
