Anticipation is Key

Pole dancing has gotten a bad reputation recently because of teen star
Miley Cyrus performing a dance on stage at the Nickelodeon People’s
Choice Awards. Many people assumed she was acting promiscuously because
she was pole dancing, despite the star’s claim that she was merely
trying to keep her balance while on a moveable cart. Whether or not that was actually the case is anybody’s guess, but there was probably intended to be a bit of sexual undertone to the performance on the part of the producers, even if the singer did not know that was the case. Pole dancing is
not necessarily a sexual act; it is well-known, and quite popular as a form of aerobic
exercise. It has become associated with promiscuousness because of pole
dancers at strip clubs and other questionable venues; however, ordinary
people can pole dance without having any impure motives at all. In fact, most are trying to stay fit!
